Orestes Pedro Trujillo

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Orestes Pedro Trujillo Sr., lovingly known as “O.P.,” who departed this life on April 30, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on June 29, 1941, in Havana, Orestes later fulfilled his lifelong dream of immigrating to the United States in 1972 in pursuit of freedom and opportunity. Through perseverance, faith, and determination, he built a life centered on family, hard work, and devotion. Orestes was a loving and dedicated husband to Lidia Trujillo for fifty-two wonderful years. Together they created a strong and loving family that remained the center of his life. He is survived by his beloved children: Ivette Cruz and husband Oscar, Omar Trujillo and wife Lourdes, Alex Romero and wife Nikki, Orestes P. Trujillo Jr., and Lydia Zuckerman and husband Carlos. He also leaves behind eight cherished grandchildren and one great-grandson, all of whom will continue to carry forward his legacy, values, and love. A highly respected aircraft mechanic, Orestes dedicated twenty-eight years of service to American Airlines before retiring in 2012. He took tremendous pride in his work ethic and ability to provide for his family. Outside of work, he found joy in cheering for the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Cowboys, watching classic western films and television shows, traveling the world in his younger years, enjoying authentic Texas BBQ, and indulging his well-known sweet tooth. Though he could be strong-willed and tough at times, everything Orestes did came from a place of deep love and commitment to his family. One of the proudest accomplishments of his life came in October 1990, when after years of sacrifice and determination, he was finally able to secure freedom and opportunity for his two eldest children and their young families. Orestes will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. His life was a testament to perseverance, loyalty, faith, and unconditional love for family. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those whose lives he touched. He was preceded in death by his firstborn daughter, Ana Milagros Trujillo, and his parents, Orestes Gerónimo Trujillo Gil and Celina Flores Ferro. The family will receive friends on Monday, May 11, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Guerrero-Dean Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Grand Prairie Memorial Gardens. A reception will follow immediately after the burial at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. In this time of reflection, we invite all who knew Orestes to remember him for the joy, strength, and love he brought into the lives of others. May he rest in eternal peace with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
