Leonard Wayne Benton

Leonard "Wayne" Benton of Murphy, Texas, a kind husband, father, and adoring grandfather and great-grandfather, has left this world, surrounded by the love of his family. He was the first of three children born to Lonnie and Juanell Benton. Wayne, a proud Plano High School graduate, went on to pursue higher education at North Texas State University (now the University of North Texas), achieving academic excellence and obtaining a degree in finance. Having retired from his dynamic career at Husqvarna Machinery, where he served diligently as an International Trainer for 17 years, Leonard's professional expertise was matched only by his passion for music, an art he both mastered and enjoyed. Known for his mesmerizing voice, Wayne found solace in singing and composing, an art form that he cherished throughout his life. Hailing from a family with a rich musical tradition, Wayne was not only a talented musician but also a devoted lover of horses, finding joy and peace in their companionship. Survived by his beloved wife of twenty-seven years, Sharon Ann Benton, and cherished children, Alison Brown and her spouse James, Lea Guiler and her spouse Greg, and Troy Magness and his spouse Kat. He also leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and unwavering commitment to his family. His grandchildren Nathan Brown, Bethany and Bradyn Bright, Cooper Guiler, Addilyn Guiler, Kelsey Magness, and Dayton Magness, along with his great-granddaughter Braelyn Bright, were the light of his life, bringing him immense joy and pride. As we bid farewell to Wayne, we celebrate the enduring impact he has had on all those who were fortunate enough to know him. A man of integrity, compassion, and steadfast dedication, his memory will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of being a part of his life's journey. We invite his friends, family, and loved ones to join us in honoring his extraordinary life during the upcoming memorial services and ceremonies, where we will gather to pay tribute to a remarkable soul who will forever hold a special place in our hearts. Services to celebrate the life and legacy of Leonard Wayne Benton will be held on July 27, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Elevate Church, Murphy.
