It is with loving remembrance that we celebrate the home-going of Dixie Karen Butcher who departed this life in her home in Mesquite,Texas on September 11, 2026, at the age of 87. Visitation: 6 to 7 pm Friday, September 18, 2026 at Peace Church, 2401 N Beltline Road, Mesquite, TX, 75150 where a Celebration Service will follow at 7. Graveside Service: 10:30 am Saturday, September 19, 2026 at Rosemound Cemetery in Waco, TX. Dixie was born on April the 8th, 1939 in Clarks,Louisiana as an only child to the late RC and Jean Craft. She was a devoted daughter, loving wife, caring mother, cherished Nana, admired Momma Dixie, treasured sister-in-law, loved Aunt Karen, and dear friend to many. Throughout her life, Dixie was known for her kindness, quiet strength, and unwavering love for God and her family. She had a warm smile and a gentle spirit that brought comfort and joy to everyone who knew her. She served as a minister’s wife from age 19 until her passing.Her greatest happiness came from being at church, moments with her JD, spending time with her children, grandchildren, extended family, and friends. One of her favorite hobbies was working in the yard, she loved flowers, birds and gardening. Dixie is survived by her loving and devoted husband JD Butcher of 10 1/2 years, her children, Pam Baker and husband Jim, Sam Davis and wife Karen, Michael Butcher and wife Tovi, Kim Bishop and husband Darrin, LeAnn Maroney and husband Tim. Her grandchildren,Joseph Baker, Jarrod Baker and wife Karissa, Brittaney Davis and husband Chris, Courtney Goodman and husband Zach, Brittany Echols and husband Kyle, Luke Barclay and wife Vivian, Katrina Brown and husband Steven, Jessica Tso and husband Eric, Chance Maroney and Shayne Maroney. and 26 great grandchildren She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years,William Harvey Davis and her parents, RC and Jean Craft, in-laws Sam & Lousie Davis, brother-in-law Harold Davis and sister-in-law Margaret Rawlinson, and a host of uncles,aunts and cousins. Today is a celebration of a life well lived. Dixie will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered. Her gentleness, laughter, and love will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew her. Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and she is loved beyond words. Dixie, Karen, Mom, Nana, Momma Dixie, you are forever in our hearts. Save us a seat at the table!
