Danny Fletcher

Danny Fletcher, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and cherished member of the Lions Club International, passed away on January 4, 2026. A proud native of Goose Creek, Texas, Danny had called Josephine, Texas, home in recent years. He was the youngest of five children born to the late Claude Edward Fletcher and the late Jewel Kate Burns Fletcher. Danny's journey through life was marked by love, dedication, and a deep sense of service. After graduating from Lubbock High School, he answered the call of duty and proudly served in the United States Navy from 1962 to 1965 aboard the USS Peterson. Following his honorable discharge, he pursued further education at the Metropolitan Technical Institute, earning an Associate Degree in Applied Science. Throughout his life, Danny remained steadfast in his commitment to his community. His membership in the Plano Early Lions Club was a testament to his passion for service, and he left an indelible mark on the organization, eventually being inducted into the Texas Lions Hall of Fame. He served District 2-X1 for many years, taking on various roles including Cabinet Secretary, Treasurer, and contributing significantly to the Sight and Tissue Foundation. Danny is survived by his loving son, Danny Paul Fletcher, and daughter-in-law Jamie; his devoted daughter, Paula Hanstad, and son-in-law Edward; and his caring daughter, Debra Striker, and son-in-law Matthew; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and a sister, Kay Hobbs. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will always remember his kindness, wisdom, and unwavering dedication to helping others. He was preceded in death by his wife of forty-eight years, Kathryn Blain Fletcher and siblings, Claude Fletcher, Charlie Fletcher and Betty Bob Jordan. A graveside service with Military Honors will take place at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery on January 30, 2026, at 11:30 a.m., where family and friends will gather to honor and celebrate his life. A memorial service will follow at the First United Methodist Church on January 31, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., a time for reflection and remembrance of a man who touched many lives. As we prepare to bid farewell to Danny, we remember him not only as a veteran and community leader but as a loving father and grandfather whose warmth and generosity will be deeply missed. His spirit will forever be a part of the lives he impacted, and he will continue to inspire those who knew him.
