Bruce "Grandpa" Warren Gundlach

Bruce “Grandpa” Warren Gundlach,73, of Double Oak, Texas, a man of unwavering faith, heartfelt generosity, and boundless love, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on April 16, 2025. He was born on December 12, 1951, to the late Frederick Arthur Gundlach and the late Lorraine Bernice Niemiec. Bruce gave his life to Christ in 1978. His favorite Bible verse was John 3:16, and it was not just something he memorized, but something he lived. His faith was the foundation of everything he did, and it guided the way he loved, served, and led. Bruce graduated from MacArthur High School in 1969. On September 4, 1971, he married the love of his life, Nancy Walker. Their marriage was a shining example of love, devotion, and commitment. Together, they built a home filled with laughter, kindness, and faith, and they created a legacy of love that continues to grow through their children and grandchildren. Bruce had a lifelong passion for sports. He spent many years coaching baseball, soccer, and softball teams, especially enjoying the opportunity to coach his sons. He was a proud fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers, holding season tickets and cheering them on with unwavering enthusiasm. Whether in the stands or on the field, Bruce loved every moment of it. He was also known for his playful spirit. He could always be counted on for a good laugh and a classic dad joke. He loved yard games, cutting the grass with his grandchildren riding along on the mower, and simply spending time with the people he loved. He had a big heart and was always ready to help, often putting others before himself and offering whatever he had to give. Bruce served faithfully as a deacon at Crossroads Bible Church. He worked for more than 20 years at Liberty Christian School, where he was a leader, mentor, and encourager to countless students and faculty, retiring in 2017 as Dean of Students. Prior to that, he ran his own trucking business and exemplified what it meant to work hard and provide for his family with integrity and grit, no matter the cost. He was also passionate about giving back, donating his time and energy to organizations like the Wounded Warriors. In every role he held, whether at home, in the workplace, or in the community, Bruce lived with humility, strength, and selfless love. Above all, Bruce loved God and his family. He was a steady and faithful husband, a wise and devoted father, a fun and loving grandfather, and a friend to so many. His legacy is one of faith, laughter, generosity, and unwavering love. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his father and mother-in-law Gordon Walker and wife Donna. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nancy “Nan” Gundlach; son, Mark Gundlach and wife Marilee; son, Scott Gundlach; grandchildren, Seth Allen, Gracie Mae, Bianca Taylor; brother-in-law, Jeff Walker and wife Laura; sister-in-law Laurie Gaines and husband Rick; one niece and numerous nephews, and a host of special best friends.
