Pansee Pickens Cox, loving mother, adoring grandmother, great-grandmother, endearing friend to a large extended family and faithful friend to many, entered into eternal life on Thursday morning, February 27, 2020. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Guerrero-Dean Funeral Home where she served as a caring employee for many years, 500 E Main Street, Grand Prairie, Texas, 75050. Celebration of Life: 2 p.m. Sunday, March 1, 2020 at Irving Bible Church, 2435 Kinwest Pkwy, Irving, TX 75063. Graveside Service: 11 a.m. Monday at Grand Prairie Memorial Gardens. Pansee Pickens was born in Vivian, Louisiana on September 1, 1933, the daughter of the late Jim Pickens and the late Maude Burns Pickens. She would marry the late Arnold M. Cox on September 4, 1954. Over the next thirteen years, they would have four children. Together, they would own and operate four used car dealerships in Grand Prairie. Arnold's untimely death in 1967 would leave Pansee a widow at thirty-two years old. She relied on her faith and strong work ethic, which she developed as a teenager, to provide for her young family. Always striving to better herself, Pansee would become a real estate agent, then a broker in Grand Prairie. She was proud to play a part in helping families own their own home. She also worked for Omnitrition International as an accounting and payroll specialist. Pansee volunteered in many civic organizations and in younger years, worked the polls for local elections. When her children were in school she served in the PTA, as well as numerous committees at her church. She was also involved in the Grand Prairie Rotary Club. Her love of travel took Pansee to countries all over the world including Israel, the Philippines, England, Germany, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Australia, and several cruises. In her late 60’s, after deciding retirement was not for her, Pansee continued working as receptionist at Guerrero-Dean Funeral Home until she was 84 years of age.. Her warm smile and soothing personality served as a comfort to many hurting families. Pansee, who was affectionately known by her family as Mimi, is survived by: son Charles Cox and wife Christy, daughter Ashley Cox, daughter Dana Cox Pugh and husband Nathanael, son Lance Cox and wife Oksana; grandchildren Leslie Cox Branam and husband Justin, Courtney Cole, Brittney Gardner, Nolan Barbee and wife Jordan, Reagan Pugh, Corbin Pugh and wife Shannon, Gavin Pugh and wife, Michelle, Sophia Cox, Sasha Cox and Vika Cox, and great grandchildren, Audrey and Jack Branam. Her surviving nieces and nephews include: Sandra Pickens Robertson, Rex Pickens Jr., Dahn Keith, Shanna Long McDowell, Renda Long Grogan, Shelton Long and lastly, Annette Keith, Peggy Stevens, and numerous other extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Pansee was preceded in death by brother, Rex Pickens, sister-in-law, Irene Pickens, sisters - Marie Cox, Martha Rhodes, Caroldon Marshall, biological mother, Florence Coleman and recently great grandson, Sebastian James Gardner.
