Florinda Valdez

In celebration of Florinda's remarkable life, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 6, 2023. The funeral will be held at Immaculate Conception Church, where we will gather to honor her memory and bid our final farewells. Burial beside her beloved Jose will follow at Southland Memorial Park. Florinda was born on March 15, 1938, the youngest of 3 children born to the late Marcos Gonzalez and the late Petra Perez Gonzalez in Dilley, Texas. She would move to Grand Prairie with her husband, the late Jose Valdez. Always hard-working, she would retire in 1972 after many years at AAFES in Dallas. Florinda was known for her love for shopping, especially at Walmart. A meal at Mercado Juarez was always an enjoyable moment. Watching her favorite Novelas and eating her maranitos or her empanadas was always a go to. However, that does not describe her most admirable trait. She was an affectionate, loving person that will continue to have an ever-lasting impression in our hearts. An example of a kindhearted soul that is a rare find. As the family grew there was always love to share with an immense heart con los carinos que lo daban a todos. All our lives have a lifespan with those that are gone too soon and those who lived a full life. We can all attest that she lived a full life and succeeded in all battles of sickness, nothing faced her. She did not pass in defeat, but in control of the fight and was ready to join her Husband in Heaven. To Wela and Welo, to Flaco and Flaca together again. Survived by: Daughter, Juanita Torres and her spouse Jose; grandchildren, Maria Holguin and her spouse Manuel, Steven Garcia and his spouse Lucy; great-grandchildren, Anthony Alexander Holguin and spouse Chelsea, Marissa Marie Holguin, Melissa Nicole Holguin, Jose Manuel Holguin, Kaylee Garcia; great-great grandchild, Brooklyn Nicole, and sister, Cuca Molina, and a large number of friends. Including her paw kids Mellow and Kilo. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Ana Maria Valdez.
