William "Billy" Joseph Murphy

William “Billy” Joseph Murphy, 69, a native of Irving, passed away unexpectedly, May 21, 2024, in Irving, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of curiosity, ingenuity, and unwavering love. Billy, a loving father, husband, brother, dedicated friend, and a remarkable inventor, was born on April 6, 1955, to the late Robert Knight Murphy and the late Rosalie Elisabeth Murphy. He would marry the love of his life, Rosa Murphy, and share over 20 years of marriage before her passing. Known for his creative spirit and bold imagination, Billy had a remarkable talent for tinkering with things. It was through his endeavors that he installed geothermal technology on his own property, demonstrating his passion for embracing sustainable solutions and his commitment to exploring new ways of harnessing energy. His innovative nature never ceased to amaze and inspire those around him. Throughout his life, his ingenuity extended far beyond geothermal technology. He had a gift for inventing his own little trinkets, finding joy in bringing his ideas to life. His mind was always at work, exploring, and seeking to make the world a better place through his unique creations. In his earlier years, he built a machine to fill multiple vials at a medical facility to increase production all on his own with the backing of the company. In addition to his inventive spirit, Billy had the privilege of working for the Dallas Stars, an opportunity that brought immense joy to his life. He maintained the rink the players practiced on and kept the Zamboni’s in working order. Through this, he contributed to the team's success, witnessing great victories that culminated in him being awarded a precious Stanley Cup ring. The memories he created during his time with the Stars were cherished, and they left an indelible mark on his life. He is preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Murphy, and sister, Margaret Murphy. Billy is survived by his daughters, Angela Locke, and husband Justin, and Valorie Summers; grandchildren: Jonah Locke, Victoria Summers and Frank Summers; and a great granddaughter; brother, Robert Murphy; sisters, Mary Russell, and husband Dennis, Carol Wells, and husband Gale, Sue Burk, and husband Thomas, Laura Goad, and husband Frank; brothers, Gerald Murphy, and wife Kathie, Donnie Murphy, and wife Kidd; and a host of numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. He will forever be missed, forever loved, and forever remembered in the hearts of those who were privileged to know him.
