Valerie Carol Boyd

This is the story of Valerie C. Boyd (Waltraut K Mann). Some know her as Waltraut, others know her as Valerie and her grandchildren and many others know her as Mema. Valerie was a determined, and strong woman with a sense of humor. Valerie’s story starts on August 22, 1940, a daughter to Fritz Karl Mann and Margareta Emilie Walter. Valerie was born in Zweibrücken Germany and had four siblings, Wolfgang Mann, Dieter Mann, Gunter Walter and Laura Mann. She spent her childhood working on the farm and on military base camps to help support her family. She welcomed the birth of her daughter, Heike Corniela Mann (Connie M. Page Renfro) in 1958. Valerie met the late Ted Ray Page, an American military officer stationed on Germany, and had a whirlwind romance. In 1961, their son Robert Ray Page was born. Sadly, he passed away as an infant from pneumonia. Valerie and Ted married and relocated to the United States in 1962 with their daughter, Connie. Valerie worked as a waitress for several years. After finding her footing at several Dallas German restaurants, she worked for 30 years at Pat Luby's and retired as the head salad chef. Her German potato salad was always in demand. She was also known for her fresh peanut brittle that she made every Christmas for friends and family. Valerie loved good food, cooking German food and socializing. She had a wonderful smile, especially when talking about Germany. A natural green thumb and loved flowers. She was kind and welcoming. Valerie’s grandchildren were her heart and joy. She loved hanging out with them every chance she had. Family favorite Mema quote (that’s a good “deal”). Valerie had a passionate love for animals, especially her chihuahua’s! She volunteered at the pet store with her daughter to help with pet adoptions. Together, they would rescue and raise abandoned animals, including raising squirrels. Valerie spent her leisure time knitting, watching John Wayne westerns and playing dominos. Later in life, she met the late Woodrow Blachley (Woody), her companion and best friend. She is proceeded in death by her father Fritz Karl Mann, her mother Margareta Walter, infant son Robert Ray Page, her daughter Connie M. Page Renfro and her companion and best friend Woodrow Blachley (Woody). Survived loved ones that will miss Valerie (Mema) until they meet again are, her grandchildren Angela Bransford and Kevin Bransford, Brandon Renfro and Kristy Walker, Amanda Renfro and Nick Albanesi, Rebecca Ramirez, her great grandchild Shane Bransford. Her brothers Wolfgang Mann, Dieter Mann, Gunter Walter and her sister Laura Mann. Her son in-law Mark Renfro. And so the story goes on until we see our Waltraut, Valerie, Mema again. We love you and miss you! A private family gathering will occur at a later date. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to all those who have supported us during this difficult time.
