Troy Hinton

Troy Hinton, 85, a native of Dallas County and long-time resident of Grand Prairie, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at home surrounded by many friends and family members. Visitation: 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Indian Hills Baptist Church, 814 Tamara Lane, Grand Prairie, Texas, 75051 where funeral services will follow at 2. Burial: Moore Memorial Gardens in Arlington. Troy Hinton was born on February 20, 1932, a twin and the last of 11 children born to the late Hurshel Howard Hinton and the late Maude Melinda Brown Hinton. He was born at home in Dallas County, delivered by his father. He would grow up in Dallas, where he attended schools, including Sunset High School. His life experiences would include a tour in the US Air Force where he served at 4 year enlistment term. Following his enlisted time, he would attend Abilene Christian College, leaving just prior to receiving a 4 year degree. Troy would begin a career as an Optician, working for Texas State Optical in Fort Worth before retiring at the age of sixty-two. Not one to be idle, he drove a transport shuttle for Marriott Hotel, before becoming a full time care-taker for his in-law. Troy loved football. It there was a game on television, he would watch. He was especially a Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved to take care of his yard, proud that his grass was the greenest in the neighborhood, and his flowers were always in bloom. More than anything, he loved his Savior. He was a faithful Christian, a a long-time member of Eighth Street Baptist Church in Grand Prairie. He is survived by his wife of forty-four years, Phyllis Duncan Hinton; children, Gary Hill, Larry Hinton and spouse Evelyn, Sandra Hinton and her spouse Gary Coulter; grandchildren, Steven hill, Heather King, Jarrod Hinton, Lacey Pe'vey, Jason Hubbard, Jacob Hill; 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great expectant granddaughter. Also by siblings, Ruth Hughes, Diane Thornton, Bob Hinton, and his twin brother, Coy Hinton. He was preceded in death by sons, Randy Hill and John Hill; and by siblings, Alta Foster, Gyola Wieler, Lois Peterson, Claudia Warren, Lewis Hinton, Willie "Bill" Hinton and Fay Hartsell.
