Terry Jackson

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Terry A. Jackson, a beloved wife, mother, and faithful companion. Born in Memphis, TN on February 24, 1956, she grew up as the middle of five children. Terry graduated from Louisiana State University in 1978 with a degree in Animal Sciences and attended graduate school at Indiana University studying Statistics before marrying the love of her life, Russ, in 1980. Throughout a life dedicated to service as part of an Army family, Terry traversed various locations around the world, raising her two daughters and helping others as a teacher, friend, and advocate for those in need. In Virginia, Terry assisted Russ as he taught ROTC by providing mentorship to young female cadets. In Alaska, Terry was elected as Mayor of her community and started a program of education and support for new mothers. In Saudi Arabia, Terry volunteered as a teacher's assistant and taught swimming at the international school to help kids adjust to their ever-changing environment. In Washington, Terry volunteered as art docent and supported Russ as he retired from the military. In 2000, Terry and Russ moved to Coppell, Texas where she left a positive impact as a high school swimming and USA Triathlon official. She was also a key member of Dallas Athletes Racing staff. In 2020, Terry was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Throughout her five year battle, she shared her uplifting spirit with all those around her. She became a representative and mentor for Pancreatic Cancer support teams where she inspired positive attitudes among hospital staff, fellow patients, families, and friends of those impacted by the disease. Throughout every challenge and adventure, Terry was and always will be the anchor for her family. Terry's kind and compassionate nature touched the lives of all who knew her, leaving a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to call her sister, friend and the glue that held her family together. Her unwavering love and support will forever be remembered. Terry is survived by her husband Russ, her daughter Kate, her daughter Ashley and son-in-law Jason, and her siblings M.B, Karen, Deborah, and Duane. A celebration honoring her life will be held on 27 September at the Ft. Worth Botanical Gardens.
