Sue Ann Smithey

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sue Ann Smithey, a loving wife, devoted mother, and cherished grandmother, who departed this life on February 16, 2025, at the age of 85. Sue Ann was born on August 31, 1939, and spent her years nurturing her family and sharing her vibrant spirit with all those who knew her. Sue Ann was known for her warmth and kindness, touching the lives of many. She lived life to the fullest, exemplified by her joy at attending her grandson's wedding just weeks before her passing. Her family was her greatest treasure, and she leaves behind her beloved son, Richard Ballard, and her daughter-in-law, Shelley Ballard, grandchildren, Logan Ballard and wife Hunter, Dayton Ballard and Taryn Ballard; great-grandson, Dustyn Ballard, along with her sister, Linda Sneed, and brother Mike Messerly. The loving memories they created together will forever resonate in their hearts. Throughout her life, Sue Ann enjoyed traveling, often embarking on adventures with her church family, including memorable trips to East Texas to visit the glass factory and delightful cruises that brought joy and laughter. She dedicated many years of her life to her career at LTV Vought, where she served with pride as a bonding assembler until her retirement. Sue Ann is now reunited with her late husbands, Charles Ballard and Lee Smithey, who, along with her family and friends, will forever hold her in their hearts. Friends are invited to a public viewing 6 to 8 pm on Friday, February 21, 2025 at Guerrero-Dean Funeral Home, 500 E Main St, Grand Prairie, TX, 75050. As we honor her life, we encourage all who knew and loved Sue Ann to join us in celebrating the beautiful legacy she leaves behind. A Graveside Committal Service will occur at 11 am Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Bethlehem Cemetery near Hillsboro, TX. In reminiscing about her, let us reflect on her unwavering love, her joyful spirit, and the precious moments that will forever live on in our memories. Rest in peace, Sue Ann Smithey. You will be profoundly missed but never forgotten. Sue was preceded in death by: Lee Smithey, Frank Messerly, Eleanor Messerly, Daniel Messerly, Judy Smith, and Charles Ballard.
