Roy "Pappy" Anthony Huitt

Roy “Pappy” Anthony Huitt, 65, of Grand Prairie, a man known for his steady presence, generous heart, and deep devotion to family and faith, passed from this life, Monday, May 19, 2025, with his family by his side. He was born November 26, 1959 in Dallas, Texas, to the late Royce Wilford Huitt and the late Ruth Elaine Huitt. Roy married the love of his life, Sheryl, in January of 1985. Their marriage was a true partnership, filled with warmth, laughter, and mutual support. Roy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother—always ready to lend a hand. In fact, at one time or another, he helped every member of his family move their home, never once hesitating to show up when called. A man of his word, Roy could be counted on—plain and simple. His loyalty and dependability were a cornerstone of who he was. He loved his family fiercely and lived a life that reflected that love through action. Roy found joy in working with his hands, whether it was fixing something, or building something. A true jack of all trades, there wasn’t much he couldn’t figure out. He also had a deep love for the outdoors, especially hunting. Faith was central to Roy’s life. He served for many years as a deacon at Lakeside Baptist Church in Grand Prairie before later becoming a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Grand Prairie. His commitment to the church and to his faith community was a testament to the kind of man he was—faithful, humble, and always willing to serve. Roy “Pappy” Huitt will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He lived a life rich in meaning, full of love, and grounded in integrity. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. He is preceded in death by his sister, Regina Lynn Young; father-in-law, Edward Clark Gardner; and brother-in-law, Jeffery Clark Gardner. Roy is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sheryl Huitt; son, Todd Anthony Huitt, and wife Morgan; son Justin Taylor Huitt, and significant other Samantha; grandchildren, Briley Peyton Huitt, Hayes Edward Huitt, Hudson Lavon Huitt, Tucker Taylor Huitt, Zayn Alexander Estrada, Hailee Ann Huitt, Beau Anthony Huitt; brother, Revel Wayne Huitt; sister, Rhonda Darlene Groves, and husband David; mother-in-law, Martha Gardner Nesler, and husband Max; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Monday, May 26, 2025, from 6-8 pm at Guerrero Dean Funeral Home, 500 E. Main St, Grand Prairie, Texas 75050. The Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at 1:30 pm, in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Southland Memorial Park in Grand Prairie.
