Reynaldo Garcia Sr.

Reynaldo Garcia, 73, a resident of Grand Prairie, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 in Ft. Worth, Texas.Reynaldo was born on December 17, 1939, the son of the late Francisco Garcia and the late Emma Jackson Garcia in La Joya, Texas. He would attend school there, where he would meet a local girl, Maria Guadalupe "Lupe" Alaniz. They would become childhood sweethearts, finally marrying on April 22, 1958.Their family would be blessed by 4 children. Emma, Reynaldo (Rey) Jr., Jose Luis (Joe) and Dora Lee (Lilly) would bring excitement and energy to the family. In 1968, Reynaldo would move the family to Grand Prairie where he would begin work in the defense, working for LTV.His real contentment came from driving an 18 wheeler. In 1973, he became an independent contractor driving his personally-owned 18 wheeler. His first contract was working for Wales Trucking hauling pipes all over the United States, even into Canada. When the children were grown and out of the home, Lupe would become his traveling companion. His friends would often joke of his partner that provided him with his meals while he was driving. He loved his job, and would continue driving until his health would no longer allow him to do so. Together, they were able to see many wonderful places and share unique experiences.His job required him to be a good mechanic. It carried over into his personal life, exhibited in his pride in his classic cars. He never grew tired of tinkering with them.Reynaldo loved to dress nice. He felt it important to look sharp, dressing in hat, starched shirt, jeans and matching boots. His love for western dress carried over into his love of old western movies and shows.His love for the Dallas Cowboys never faltered. He was an avid hunter and a talented pool player. Any of it could be made a little bit more enjoyable with the addition of a Miller Lite.He was a doting grandfather. Having children around gave him an excuse to watch Looney Tunes. Grilling outdoors and spending time with family was always a family favorite.Survivors include his loving wife, Lupe Garcia; Children: Emma Garcia and her husband Ricky, Reynaldo (Rey) Garcia Jr. and his wife Priscilla, Jose Luis (Joe) Garcia and his wife Sheila, and Dora Lee (Lilly) Garcia; Grandchildren: Richard (Ricky) Selvera, Gracie Shipp and her husband Cecil, Desirae Venecia and her husband Aldo, Emmanuel (Manuel) Selvera, Monica Rodriguez and her fiancé Danny Devoz, JoAnna Rodriguez, Alexandra Garcia, Laura Garcia, Kristina Garcia, Jose (Joey) Garcia, Alexus Garcia, Michael Anguiano and his wife Dora, Davina Anguiano and her fiancé TC Trujillo; Great-Grandchildren: Anastasia Selvera, Cynthia Selvera, Madison Shipp, Ryan Crump Jr., Emma Venecia, Ariana Rodriguez, Michael (Mikey) Anguiano and Mikaela Anguiano; Siblings: Genaro Cavazos, Ramiro Garcia, Juanita Howe, Rodolfo Garcia, Francisco Garcia, Gregorio Garcia and San Nicolas GarciaVisitation: 4 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2013 at Guerrero-Dean Funeral Home, 500 E.
