Otto Skidmore

Otto Alphard Skidmore, departed this life peacefully from natural causes on July 27, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on August 17, 1939, in Groveton, Texas, Otto was the second of six children in his family. He is deeply mourned by his wife, Nell Skidmore, and his cherished children Cathy Carlton, Rose and John Walsh, Kenneth and Tammi Meredith, Dana and Blaine Johnson and Ambrose and Casey Skidmore. His presence will be deeply missed by his seven grand children and eight great-grand children who are committed to faithfully continue his lovingly legacy. He is also survived by siblings Dorthy and David Prill and several nieces and nephews. Otto was preceded in death by his parents, Otto Legion Skidmore and Mary Hutto Skidmore, also by his siblings Claudette Skidmore, Gladys Mayes, Douglas Skidmore and Joe Jr Tomlinson. Otto proudly served his country in the United States Army immediately following his graduation from high school. After his service, he enjoyed a diverse and fulfilling career that included working as a Keno dealer in Las Vegas and serving over twenty years as a maintenance engineer for Menasco Co. in Euless, Texas. Later, he contributed his skills as the building and grounds supervisor at Christ Temple in Irving, Texas.Beyond his professional accomplishments, Otto was a man of many passions. He found joy in fishing, bowling, golfing, and throwing darts. His greatest joys came from serving and helping people in anyway he could. He is deeply remembered by friends and family for his cooking and ability to fix anything that might need repair. He exhibited remarkable strength and resilience, having defied medical expectations multiple times in his latter years. The community is invited to celebrate Otto's life during the forthcoming funeral services. A public viewing will occur at 11:00 am to 1 pm at Guerrero Dean Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will occur 1:00, allowing family and friends to gather in remembrance and honor of a life well-lived. A family committal will occur with Military Honors at Dallas Fort-Worth Cemetery in Dallas, TX at a later date. Otto Alphard Skidmore will be remembered not only for his enduring strength and love for his family but also for the joy he brought to those around him. His legacy of kindness, hard work, and perseverance will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
