Orestes Pedro Trujillo

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Orestes "O.P." Pedro Trujillo, Sr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, who departed this life on April 30, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on June 29, 1941, in Havana, Cuba, Orestes became a proud American citizen after accomplishing his dream of immigrating to the United States in 1972 in search of freedom and opportunity. His journey reflected a life grounded in faith, resilience, hard work, and unwavering dedication. Orestes was a devoted husband to Lidia Trujillo for fifty-two years, a wonderful provider and father that served as the foundation of their family. He is survived by his cherished children: Ivette Cruz and her husband Oscar, Omar Trujillo and his wife Lourdes, Alex Romero and his wife Nikki, Orestes P. Trujillo, Jr., and Lydia Zuckerman and her husband Carlos; 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. His legacy endures through his family, who will carry his values, stories, and spirit forward into the generations yet to come. A distinguished aircraft mechanic, Orestes dedicated 28 years of his life to American Airlines, retiring in 2012. His commitment to his work was matched only by his passion for sports, which included being a devoted fan of the Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys, a lover of classic western films and television shows, and traveling the world in his younger years. He also had a deep appreciation for Texas BBQ and also had a well-known sweet tooth! Orestes's spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His life was a testament to the values of hard work, love of family, and unwavering loyalty. Although he could be tough, everything he did came from a place of deep love for his family. After years of sacrifice and determination, he achieved one of his greatest goals-securing freedom for his two eldest children and their young families in October 1990, a milestone that filled him with immense pride. The family will receive friends on Monday, May 11, 2026 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Guerrero-Dean Funeral Home, 500 E Main St., Grand Prairie, TX, 75050. Mass of Christian Burial: 1 p.m. Tuesday at St Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Grand Prairie Memorial Gardens. In this time of reflection, we invite all who knew Orestes to remember him fondly for the joy he brought into their lives and the lasting impact he made on all who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in eternal peace with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Orestes was preceded in death by his firstborn daugther, Ana Milagros Trujillo, and parents Orestes Gerónimo Trujillo Gil and Celina Flores Ferro.
