Miriam Louise Hancock

Miriam Louise Hancock, known to her family as Mom, Granny, KLA, Uncle Miriam, Aunt Mims, Moony, Maurney and Grace, passed away peacefully at Arlington Memorial Hospital on December 30, 2022 at the age of 70. She was surrounded by family as she transitioned. Miriam was born on June 18, 1952 in Cleburne, TX to late parents Thurman Hendrix and Sue Gresham. She was the third born out of five with enough spunk to make up for the fact that she was a middle child. She grew up in Waco, TX before moving to Grand Prairie, TX, where she started her own business and family. An entrepreneur, Miriam built a legacy for herself working along side family. Everyone in town wanted their letterman jackets done by The Chenille Shop. Miriam fought a tough battle with cancer but she never let it destroy her strong spirit. Throughout her illness, she remained the same sassy, bossy, silly woman that her family and friends all knew and loved. She was pulling pranks on the nurse all the way up until her passing. Miriam is survived by her siblings Glenda Brandner, Charles Hendrix and Treada Davenport and sister-in-law, Helen Mainard,Commended to uphold Miriam’s legacy are her surviving children, Donnie and Wendy Hancock, Frank “Rex” Hancock and Dawn Edwards, Jennifer Hancock and Julie Lee. Forever cherishing memories of a caring grandmother are surviving grandchildren Nicholas Hancock, Emily Mercer, Christina “Dallas” Hancock, Zachary Hancock, Morgan Lee and Morgan Edwards. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by son, Billy Roy Hancock, sister, Yvonna Yarbrough, brother-in-law, Billy Gene Yarbrough, brother-in-law, Carl Brandner. She will also be joining her doggie soulmates Sassy Lou, Cybli Molynn and Maggie Sue. Miriam’s visitation will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at Guerrero-Dean Funeral Home. The address is 500 E Main St, Grand Prairie, TX 75050. Miriam will be laid to rest with her late husband and soulmate, Don Hancock at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 6, 2023 at Southland Memorial Park in a graveside service. The address is 1100 SW 3rd St. Grand Prairie, TX 75051.
