Kimberly Sue Fernald

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Kimberly Sue Torres Fernald, who left this world on December 4, 2024, at the age of 54. Born on November 4, 1970, in Utica, NY, Kim embraced life with a spirit full of warmth, kindness, and grace. She carried her roots with her as she made her way to Grand Prairie, TX, where she created a loving home with her beloved husband, Gordon Fernald. Kim's generous heart extended beyond her family as she dedicated countless hours volunteering for the Grand Prairie Cat Crew, a testament to her love for animals-especially cats. Her tireless efforts in finding homes and fostering felines in need showcased her compassion and commitment to making a difference in her community. She was a beacon of light to those who knew her, always ready with a smile and a listening ear. Her love for family and friends was boundless, and she cherished every moment spent with them. She had a unique ability to make everyone feel special; her laughter was infectious, and her nurturing nature brought comfort to many. As we remember Kimberly, we celebrate her life-a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and cherished memories. She leaves behind her devoted spouse of twenty-eight years, Gordon, who will forever hold her close in his heart, along with countless friends and family members who were touched by her generous spirit. In addition to her husband, she is survived by 5 children; 4 step-children; 27 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild and sister, Donna Sellers. She had a profound love for her entire family, but was recently extremely proud of becoming a great-grandmother. Funeral services in honor of Kimberly Sue Fernald will occur at the First United Methodist Church of Grand Prairie, December 21, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. All who knew her are welcome to share their stories and memories. In this way, we will gather together to honor her legacy and cherish the impact she made on our lives. Kimberly may have departed from this world, but her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her. She has left us with a reminder: to love deeply, laugh freely, and embrace each day as the gift it is. Rest in peace, dear Kimberly. You will be missed beyond measure. Kimberly was preceded in death by parents: C.D. Lette and Anita Powers Lette.
