Kathryn Ann Fletcher

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kathryn Ann Fletcher, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and dedicated member of the community. Kathryn was born in Detroit, Michigan on November 8, 1949, daughter of the late James Alvin Blain and the late Mary Louise Perez Blain, before her family moved to Dallas when she was 12 years old. She was the oldest of six siblings and the only daughter with a nurturing presence that shaped her family's life in profound ways. Kathryn's life revolved around her dedication to serving others, a passion that found a profound outlet in her involvement with various committees within Lions Club International. Her commitment to The Lions Sight and Tissue Foundation touched the lives of countless individuals, providing vital eyesight assistance to those in need. Kathryn's role as District Governor for District 2-X1 from 2005-2006 exemplified her leadership and unwavering commitment to the Lions Club community. A Melvin Jones Fellow, Kathryn's monetary contributions to the Lions Club were numerous and impactful, indicative of her selfless nature and desire to make a difference in the world. Despite her many accolades and roles within the club, Kathryn found solace in simpler joys, relishing the moments spent watching her grandchildren play sports and being surrounded by family. Kathryn is survived by her loving husband of forty-eights years; Danny Fletcher; children Danny Paul and spouse Jaime, Brian Casey and spouse Bonnie, Paula Hanstad and spouse Edward, Debra Striker and spouse Matthew; 15 grandchildren 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, Richard Blain and spouse Verna, David Blain and spouse Virginia, James Blain and spouse Sharon, Michael Blain and spouse Rena, and Pat Blain. Their loss is deeply felt, as Kathryn's presence brought light and love to all who knew her. This morning Lion Danny chose First United Methodist Church in Coppell from several proffered locations for PDG Kathy's memorial service and visitation because it is familiar to so many Lions in District 2-X1 from past District Cabinet Meetings. The service, led by PDG Mark Dean, and visitation, hosted by the Plano Early Lions Club & District 2-X1, will be held at the FUMC in their Fellowship Hall from 3-6 pm on Sunday, June 30.
