Donna Mae Nevland

It is with great sadness we announce the death of our loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and wife to Lee, Donna Nevland. She was born in Wisconsin in 1936, and passed away June 4, 2023 at the age of 86 after a long battle with Alzhiemer's disease. Her warm smile and hugs will be missed by all as well as her wonderful dinners and happy home. Donna grew up in several cities in Missouri and Illinois, and she graduated from Lutheran High East in Michigan. She became a Medical Technician and worked for Dr. Metes. Donna met Lee Nevland in the Walther League Youth Group at church, and they married on October 11, 1958. She and Lee had 4 children; Lisa, Anne, David, and Peter. She moved to Texas with her husband and family in 1977. She attended Shady Grove Church which later became Gateway Church. She developed her skills as a seamstress, and with a tape measure and some pins, she truly could fit any body. She made clothing for her family, which we were proud to wear, by the way. She had a small business doing alterations, sewing clothing for the public, bridal alterations, and making banners for worship services. Her last project was sewing a full line of doll clothing for the Chrissy and American Girl dolls. These outfits would have sold well online, but Donna could not stand the thought of advertising on Geezer.com. Is geezer even in the dictionary? Donna was a life-long follower of Jesus, and in 1970 she received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit which changed her life dramatically. She led her children to Christ and opened her home to many and encouraged them in their walk with Jesus. She is pre-deceased by her father Herold and mother Maria, her brother H. James and his wife Caroline, and her sister Elizabeth. Donna is survived by her husband M. Lee Nevland, daughter Lisa Schulze, daughter Anne {Shoichi} Watabe , son David {Amy} Nevland , son Peter {Vicki} Nevland , and grandchildren Kayla {Michael} Boone , Samuel {Melinda} Schulze , Janna LaRose, Ethan Schulze, Brian {Chelsea} Watabe , Matthew Watabe, Steven {Tabitha} Watabe , Rosemarie Nevland, Beck Nevland, Haddie Nevland, Kaz Nevland, Pax Nevland, and Goldie Nevland, and great grand children J Asher, Daniel, Ezra, Indigo, Judah, and Kaiya, her sister Eleanor Smith, and many loving nieces and nephews. The memorial service for Donna will take place at 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 21st at Gateway Church, 2404 N. Carrier Parkway, Grand Prairie, TX 75050.
