David Curtis Shumaker

David Curtis Shumaker, 31, of Roanoke, Texas, a devoted husband, loving father, and true gentleman, entered eternal rest Saturday, June 8, 2025. He was born April 28, 1994, in Washington State. David was a man who always wanted the best for those he loved. His family was his world and there was nothing more important to him than making sure they were cared for, supported, and cherished. His deep love for his wife, whom he met in 2018 and married in 2020, was a testament to his loyalty and compassion. He treated her with the greatest respect and dignity, always insisting she walk on the side of the sidewalk furthest from the road — a small but profound reflection of the protective, loving person he was. A proud dad to his son Liam, David felt blessed to have a son after growing up surrounded by many sisters. Liam was his greatest happiness and the center of his world. His phone was always on and available for his family; no matter the time or day, David made sure to be there when they called. David was a man of deep faith in God, a true believer who drew strength and peace from his relationship with the Lord. His love for the beach and for donuts were well-known, simple pleasures that made him happy and reminded him of a future filled with hope — a future where, hopefully, a home by the sea would become a reality. He also liked to appreciate the finer things in life in small moments — whether it was enjoying an occasional glass of Kentucky bourbon or spending a peaceful afternoon by the shore, these were the things that brought him happiness and peace. He lived his life with kindness, patience, and a generosity of spirit. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who love him — his wife, his son, his sisters, and all his family and friends. His faith, love, and devotion will continue to guide them in the years to come. David is survived by his wife, Rachael Shumaker; son, Liam Shumaker; sisters, Ashlee, Cassie, Emily, Erica, Lexi, and Christy; brother, Isaac; grandfather, Richard Shumaker; nephew, Montana Simmons; cousin, Mark Shumaker; and brother from another mother, Tim Owens. Arrangements entrusted to Guerrero-Dean Funeral Home under the direction of Aaron King, Funeral Director. The family will have a private viewing and service at a later date.
