Darren Corley

With sorrow, we announce the passing of Darren Ward Corley, a beloved son, father, grandfather, brother-in-law, and uncle. Darren left this world on October 29, 2024, at a hospital in Lake Charles, LA., leaving behind a legacy of love and unwavering dedication to his family. Even though small in stature, he was big in personality. As a child, he played soccer and football with the Lamar Chiefs for 3 years and was also an honorary Cub Scout with his big brother, Craig. His first job was working at Minyards. He was a proud graduate of Grand Prairie High School, class of 1987. After gradation, Darren joined the US Marine Corp, always proud of his service and dedication to his country. He would marry Cassandra Hoffman in September of 1989 and they were blessed with a beautiful daughter, Meagan Ashley in 1993. After his service in the USMC, he moved to Mississippi, beginning a long career in the gaming industry. He was a faithful employee of Winstar Casinos, one of the largest in the world, for more than thirty years, working from Mississippi to Oklahoma. He was primarily responsible for setting up table games and dealing. Darren will be deeply missed by his parents, Doranna and Jerry Corley; his daughter, Meagan Norris, son-in-law Grant Norris, and cherished grandson, Hudson Norris. He will also be remembered fondly by his sister-in-law, Darlena Corley and nieces, Sarah Corley and Hannah Corley; aunt and uncle, James and Sheryl Lowe; numerous other aunts, uncles and cousins. A Memorial Service to celebrate Darren's life will be held at the Soroptimist House, 121 SW Dallas St, Grand Prairie, TX, 75051 on November 18, 2024, from 6 to 9 pm. This service will be a time for family and friends to come together, celebrate Darren's birthday, share memories, and honor the impact Darren had on all those who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be placed at Dallas Fort-Worth National Cemetery at a later date. Darren's kind heart, warm smile, and gentle spirit touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impression that will never be forgotten and would best describe him. May he rest in peace, knowing he was deeply loved and will always hold a special place in the hearts of those who knew him. Darren was preceded in death by grandparents; Carl Ward and Hazel Ruth Corley; Lester Lowe and Beatrice Lowe and bonus grandparents, Kenneth and Norma Wallis. Also by a brother, Craig Dean Corley.
