Dana Kay Herring

Dana Kay Herring, of Grand Prairie, Texas, died peacefully on September 24, 2020 after a battle with heart and lung disease. A memorial service will be held at 10:30, Monday, October 12, at Northwest Bible Church 8505 Douglas Ave. Dallas TX 75225. In lieu of flowers donation can be made to The American Lung Association or Big Bend Conservancy. Dana was born on August 6, 1943 in Melissa, TX to parents Lee Herring Sr and Ann Herring. She graduated Grand Prairie High School in 1961 and attended Texas Women’s University. Her long career in the banking industry began in 1964 as Executive Assistant to the President at First National Bank Dallas. She remained with the company for 45 years through its many mergers in many positions, working her way up to VP Global Client Servicing Manager. Dana had an energetic and adventurous spirit with a deep love for the many people, varied artistic projects, and interests she encountered and enjoyed. Be it jewelry making, collecting Southwestern art, or painting she loved doing it with others. A joy for travel spurred adventures that varied from rugged Big Bend National Park to a photography safari of the vast African savanna. She was a member of Northwest Bible Church, and continued to meet and worship via Zoom and Facebook during this time sheltering during the pandemic. Dana loved her many high school, college, and career friends, and always brought laughter and lasting memories to all she met. Dana loved and doted on her family. Dana is preceded in death by her parents and oldest sister Suzanne Maas and is survived by her sister Deborah Herring, her brother Lee Herring Jr and his wife Patti, her brother-in-law John A Maas, her nieces and nephews John and his wife Rena, Joel and his wife Erin, Jody, Lyndsey and her husband John, Leslie and her husband Corey, her grandnieces and grandnephews Nicholas, Madeline, Emily, and Andrew, as well as all her cousins. Dana will be cremated and a memorial for family and dear friends will take place on a future date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association or Big Bend Conservancy. In lieu of flowers donation can be made to The American Lung Association or Big Bend Conservancy.
