Charles Richard Tarr, 92, passed peacefully to his heavenly home on Wednesday July 6th, 2022 at 1:17 p.m. Graveside service with military honors will be held on July 19th, 2022 at 2:30 p.m. at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery with a memorial gathering immediately following at, Outlaws BBQ, 2334 S. Beltline Road, Grand Prairie, Texas 75051. Pallbearers: Grandchildren: Mark Tarr, David Tarr, Brandon Tarr, Holly Keaton and Lifelong Family Friends; Terry Brooks and Randy Sawyers Preceded in death by first wife Marion Sue (Hoge) and second wife Wilma Dale (Creel); four siblings – Bruce Allen Tarr, Margret Veda Stanfield (Tarr), Nellie Fleming and Francis Payne; son Richard Charles Tarr, grandson Richard Jason Tarr, grandson Richard William Tarr (Richie) and granddaughter Karla Butler (Mauldin). Survived by: Son Brad Allen Tarr and wife Belinda, daughter Donna Lynn Keaton, grandchildren: Mark Tarr (wife Yvonne and family), David Tarr (wife Tracy and family), Brandon Tarr, Kim Day (Husband Gene and family), Abigail “Holly” Lynn Keaton, several great grandchildren, his aunt Alice Anne Ernst (daughter to sister Margaret) and many nieces and nephews. Charles Richard Tarr (Charlie) was born on Thursday, September 12, 1929 to late Bruce Allen Tarr and late Alice Olean Tarr (Coe) in Wichita Falls, Texas. One of five children, two brothers and three sisters – Bruce, Charlie, Margaret, Nellie and Francis. Charlie enjoyed his early years spending time with his brother, sisters and neighborhood friends around the town of Wichita Falls, frequenting a nearby fishing hole and swimming pool in the summer and listening to westerns and comic book hero stories by radio when weather prevented outdoor play. He also spoke of trips his family took to visit his Uncle Lewis’s farm and the fun his family had there. He graduated from the Wichita Falls Highschool. He enlisted for the US Army Reverses in 1948. Trained M-1 and M-16 marksman and transport vehicle mechanic. Called to active duty for the Cold War, Berlin Wall. Following the cold war active duty, he served in the National Guard Reserves for several more years. Retired as Sgt Charles Richard Tarr in 1971 after 23 years. Charlie worked for Aviall, a Boeing company, starting out as a clerk and worked his way to an aerospace machinist. He retired from Aviall after many years of service. Charlie was a modest simple easy-going guy who enjoyed simple pleasures in life. Gatherings with family and friends, fishing and outdoor activities and a good old game of dominos with anyone who would play. He was a person who always put others above self. The patience of Jobe with a content spirit. He was an animal lover throughout his life, showing compassion, concern and spirit of stewardship for them. Charlie, Charles Richard Tarr, is loved and will be missed. The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers of Avante Rehabilitation Center of Irving and Midlothian Healthcare of Midlothian for their care in his later years of life. A special thanks also to Hospice Plus associate for the care and attention given to him in his last days and the support to family.
