Charles David Kersey

With heavy hearts, we announce that Charles “Dave” Kersey passed away on September 20, 2024 in Dallas, Texas after a long illness. Dave is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Eddie “Chuck” Kersey and Beth, his sister Jane Kersey Lumpp, nephew Robert Kersey, niece Jessica and husband Charlie Lynn, great nephews Oscar and Archie Lynn and great niece Vivian Lynn. Dave was preceded in death by his parents Henry Charles Kersey and Thelma Holden and his brother, Mike Holden. Dave owned and operated Starcrest Executive Sedan Services, Inc., a transportation and private security company located in Dallas. Previously, Dave had a diverse career, including long haul trucking, mobile medical lithotripsy transportation and limousine services. His private security work included services for corporate executives, celebrities and foreign dignitaries. Dave demonstrated unwavering loyalty and commitment in his work and formed lasting business and personal relationships with many colleagues and clients. Dave's genuine kindness, steadfast integrity and unwavering dedication were qualities that made each relationship so unique throughout his life. A long-time resident of Dallas, Dave often told the story of his intention to stay in Dallas for a few days only but found something about Dallas that made him want to stay. He loved working as an extra in television shows and movies filmed in Dallas, including the TV show, Dallas. Dave enjoyed shooting and training, preferably at Thunder Ranch and taught gun safety to many people. Dave “never met a stranger,” and his big smile could light up a room. He will be missed by his many friends and family. A special thanks is owed to Dave’s many clients who supported him during his illness and to Randye Ferrell and Mark Davis, who were so generous with their time and assistance during Dave’s illness. Mark’s regular and extensive visits and many treats he always brought to Dave during such a difficult time were the highlight of Dave’s day. Thank you to Curtis Gilmore and The Senior Source, the staff of The Traymore of Park Cities and Vitas Hospice Care for their care and assistance during the last months of Dave’s life.
