Betty Ruth Nelle

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all, took her last breath on earth and first breath in heaven May 26, 2020. Betty was a bright shining light who leaves a beautiful enduring legacy of family, faith, friendship and love. Betty Ruth was born May 4, 1928 in Dallas, TX to Dick and Ruth Tumlinson and grew up in Oak Cliff. She graduated from Sunset High School and the North Texas Agricultural College (N.T.A.C.) in Arlington, TX. She married the love of her life, Robert Nelle, on August 21, 1948, sharing 64 years together. Their greatest achievement was the family they created together: 5 children, 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Betty’s Christian faith defined her, and was evident to everyone she met. She loved her church family as much as her own. Through the years, she served her community in leadership positions within her church, as well as in Girl Scouts and PTA. She also had a long career in the insurance industry. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Dick and Ruth Tumlinson, husband, Robert Nelle, and brothers, Fred, Robert Joe and Charles Elton Tumlinson. She is survived by children, Gary and Lorrie Nelle of Arlington, TX, Claudia Guetschow of Sergeant Bluff, IA, Connie and Dave Haack of Granbury, TX, Nancy and Jay Wilson of Peoria, AZ and Cathy Nelle of Grand Prairie, TX; 30 grandchildren; and Sister-in-law Denise Tumlinson, OK. Betty loved her family, friends, camping, traveling, chocolate and ice cream! Her heart and smile are gifts to us all. We celebrate her life, deep faith, quiet strength, boundless love and amazing grace.
