Benjamin Gomez

Benjamin Gomez completed his life on earth on Saturday, May 30, 2015. He was born in Edinberg, Texas on September 28, 1957. He leaves his beloved wife, Angelica Carmona Gomez and two wonderful sons, Esteban Benjamin and Samuel Pablo. Benjamin was a long time resident of Grand Prairie, Texas. He lived and worked in Chicago, Illinois from 1984 to 1995 but returned to Grand Prairie to raise his family. He was a faithful Christian man who loved the Lord and honored Him in all that he did. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior in 1972. His belief in Christ never wavered even when he was experiencing many medical trials. He was a fighter. He would bounce back stronger than before until the very end. Benjamin graduated from Grand Prairie High School in 1976. He attended The University of Texas at Arlington, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications in 1981. In college he interned at the NOAA and a Christian radio station. In 1983, he became a customer service representative for Xerox Corporation. Xerox transferred him to Chicago and he worked there until retirement in 1995. Benjamin had a wonderful sense of humor. He loved to tease his nieces and nephews and laugh. He loved sports. He was a great baseball and football player. He established the Chess Club at Austin Elementary while his sons attended there. He was a little league coach (baseball and football). He was a devoted husband for 23 years and was very proud of his sons and their accomplishments. Benjamin was the 6th child of Benedicto and Delia Gomez, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his father-in-law, Juan Carmona. He is survived by his wife and sons, his mother-in-law, 6 brothers, 6 sisters, 10 brothers-in-law, 5 sisters-in-law and many, many nephews and nieces. The celebration of Benjamin's life will take place on Saturday, June 6 at 10 a.m. at the CrossPoint Church of Christ, 3020 Bardin Road, Grand Prairie, TX 75052 · (972) 264-2374. We invite friends to visit with the family on Friday, June 5 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Guerrero-Dean Funeral Home at 500 E. Main Street in Grand Prairie, Texas. Benjamin will be interred at Grand Prairie Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the CrossPoint Church of Christ and their mission.
