Armando Gonzalez, a native of San Antonio, Texas, retired truck driver and long-time resident of Grand Prairie, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at a local hospital in Arlington, Texas. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at Guerrero-Dean Funeral Home, 500 E Main Street, Grand Prairie, TX, 75050 where Funeral Services will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, December 8, 2022. Burial will follow at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Armando Gonzalez was born on July 28, 1947, the 3rd of 5 children born to the late Abundio Gonzalez and the late Antonia Lopez. He was raised in San Antonio, attending and graduating from Edgewood High School before joining the US Air Force. After his honorable discharge, he would move to Grand Prairie where he would work as a truck driver until his retirement. He was very patriotic and proud of his service to his country. During retirement, he was never idle. He enjoyed his Monday, Wednesday, and Friday lunches with his brother Charlie. You could find him every Saturday in front of the tv watching collage football; he was looking forward to cheering on his granddaughter Sophia's school, the University of Arkansas. He enjoyed wood working, making adirondack chairs and a dresser among other things. He also built model air planes and worked on vehicles. His most recent project was restoring a 1948 Pontiac Silverstreak with his son Chris. Armando also loved baking, grilling and cooking for family and friends, often having family over for his famous hamburgers. Most importantly, Armando was a caring, loving and wonderful father who would drop everything for his chrildren. His children could always count on him for honest advice that came from the heart. He is survived by his children; Armando Gonzalez II, (Daughter-in-law Stephanie Gonzalez), Denise Gonzalez, Chris Gonzalez; grandchildren, Christina Hancock, Cristian Gonzalez, Julian Gonzalez, Matthew Knifer, Sophia Gonzalez, Ava Marie Gonzalez and Lukas Gonzalez. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Yolanda Gonzalez, Lulu Gonzalez, Neto Gonzalez and Charlie Gonzalez.
