Shirley Kaye Robertson

November 27, 1947 - January 31, 2022

We are saddened by the sudden passing of Shirley K. Robertson on January 31, 2022, at the age of 74 in Arlington, Texas. Shirley was born on Thanksgiving in 1947 to Bill and Sarah Robertson in Grand Prairie, TX. In youth she became a dedicated member of Grand Prairie High School Girls’ Choir and, after graduating in 1966, she went on to complete a Bachelor of Arts in Education at Stephen F. Austin University. Shirley later earned a certificate of Archival Administration upon completion of a project with the National Archives in Fort Worth and UTA Libraries’ Special Collections and Archives. After teaching disadvantaged minority youth along the Texas border then at the Dalworth School in Grand Prairie, Shirley met Joe Calloway, Jr. and was blessed with one child, Tamara D. Robertson. She developed a thriving federal career in the Dallas Main Post office and the Grand Prairie Main Post Office. She retired from the Office of the Finance Clerk in 2010 and began making plans to purchase a home, launch a family business with her daughter and granddaughter, and explore her passion for forensic science. Shirley was preceded to Heaven by her parents Bill and Sarah, her brother William Ray, her sister Liz Devore (nee. Robertson), and her husband Joe. She is survived by her daughter Tamara, her granddaughter Katie, her brother Bob and his family, her brother-in-law David Devore, and his children Amanda and Mark, and their families. She cared deeply about many charitable causes, including crime victims’ aid, hunger, homelessness, and animal rights. Thus, the family humbly requests donations to worthy causes and/or tree plantings rather than flowers or cards.
