Hank James Freelen, 64, faithful servant of Jesus Christ, was welcomed to his eternal life on Wednesday afternoon, January 27, 2021 following a month-long illness. Visitation: 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, February 1, 2021 at DeSoto First Church. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at First Church of Dallas. Burial will follow at Grand Prairie Memorial Gardens. Hank James Freelen was born on August 20, 1956, the 8th of 10 children born to the late Tiny John Freelen and the late Mary Elizabeth Dotson Freelen in Lamar County, near Paris, Texas. He felt the calling of God into the ministry at a young age, fulfilling a life-time commitment to God. He became an ordained minister in the United Pentecostal Church, still maintaining his credentials until the time of his death. His calling would lead him to become an evangelist before serving as pastor to congregations in Corsicana, Haltom City and finally DeSoto. After the decline in health and in dealing with heart disease, he was elevated to the position of Bishop, still enjoying his time teaching and preaching when called upon. The congregation and entire organization will miss his leadership, with and friendship. Coming from a small town inspired him to see as many places as possible. He loved traveling, always anxious for a trip to Galveston or California. He relished any opportunity to visit large cities. He was an avid collector of guns and knives, and always looking for a bargain on new ones. A game of dominoes was always entertaining He is survived by his wife of forty-one years, Sandra Gail Martin Freelen; daughters, Rachael Nicole Holley and her husband, Rev. Ryan, Courtney Rose Freelen and her husband Timothy; grandchildren, Jaxon, Judah and Paxton Holley; brothers, Virgil Freelen and his wife DeeDee. Tiny Freelen ans Sissy and many friends and extended family.
