Beatriz Benavidez

May 26, 1947 - August 3, 2020

Beatriz Benavidez, 73, a native of San Antonio and long-time resident of Grand Prairie, passed away on Monday evening, August 3, 2020. Visitation: 12 to 2 p.m. Thursday, August 6, 2020 at Guerrero-Dean Funeral Home, 500 E Main Street, Grand Prairie, TX, 75050 where funeral services will be conducted at 2. A private burial will follow at Grand Prairie Memorial Gardens. Beatriz Garzes Benavidez was born on May 26, 1947, the 2nd of 4 children born to the late Ramiro Garzes and the late Maria Cerda Garzes. On October 31, 1969, she would marry Guadalupe Benavidez. They would soon move to Grand Prairie, where they would spend the next fifty years. Beatriz loved having fun. Dancing to the oldies, playing bingo and card games are all things that her children recall. In later years, playing slots at the casino, loteria, or simply getting a handful of scratch-off lottery tickets were favorite pastimes. Going to Winstar was a easy get-away. She always seemed to have good luck at winning. The Cowboys, Rangers and Mavericks were favorite teams. Special memories include times she was able to attend baseball games with family. She was a loving mother and the rock of the family. She is survived by her husband, Guadalupe Benavidez; children, Mary Ann Gomez and her spouse Manuel Lopez, Elizabeth Barrera and her spouse Eduardo, Guadalupe Benavidez and his spouse Linda, Richard Benavidez and his spouse Cindy Cavazos, Bennie Benavidez, Sarah Jane Maiden; several generations of grandchildren and a brother, Florencio Garzes and his spouse Mary Ann. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Magdalena V. Garzes and Ramiro Garzes.
