• Traditional Services
The term “Traditional Funeral Service” is often
used to describe a funeral that is held in a church or funeral
home where the deceased person is present. The traditional funeral
is often followed by earth burial. A time of Visitation or Rosary
generally occurs before the funeral.
Traditional Service - A traditional service for burial
or cremation is often selected by local families. At Guerrero-Dean
Funeral Home we believe in the traditional funeral, because
it best serves the needs of our families and friends. The
traditional funeral service may include the following:
• Casket
• Transfer of the deceased to the funeral home
• Embalming
• Dressing, cosmetology and other care of the deceased
• Professional support and administrative staff assistance
• Use of visitation rooms • General use of the
facilities for the service and arrangements
• Funeral service
• Use of funeral coach
• Limousine
• Administration vehicle
• Register book
• Acknowledgment cards
• Memorial folders or prayer cards
The traditional funeral service can be a meaningful expression
for the family. It also gives friends and associates an opportunity
to offer their tributes in the way of flowers or memorials
to churches or organizations. Generally, a member of the clergy
or other person chosen by the family conducts the service
of remembrance. We encourage our families to actively participate
in helping plan this part of the service. Regularly family
members take part by giving a reading, singing or assisting
the clergy. Nor are there additional fees for arranging and
conducting fraternal services.
A Memorial Service is very similar to a traditional
funeral service, except the deceased is not present at the
funeral. Families might choose this option when cremation,
earth burial or entombment takes place prior to the funeral
service or when services have taken place elsewhere and local
people would like to gather to celebrate a life lived.
Graveside Services are designed for those families
that choose earth burial with formal services held at the
cemetery.
Satellite Arrangements are often completed by families
that prefer to make arrangements locally before services take
place in another area. When families contact us with their
wishes we provide as much of the services locally as possible
then work in conjunction with another service provider to
ensure that their requests are fulfilled.
Visitation and Transfer Services are available to families
that choose to have a viewing or wake before their loved one
is transferred to another center. All transfers are completed
by our staff unless air travel is determined to be more feasible.
Cremation is a method of disposition; it is considered
the process of reducing the dead human body to natural elements
by use of heat.
Earth Burial occurs when families choose to place a
casketed body or urn into an earthly grave as the final resting
place.
Earth Burial, Inurnment and Entombment provides families
with a place to visit and memorialize should they wish to
visit the grave or final resting place of a loved one.
Direct Burial is a service option available to families
who choose not to have a service or gathering. The casketed
body is interred in a cemetery or mausoleum as soon as possible
without formal services.
Direct Cremation is a service option available to families
who choose not to have a service or gathering. The deceased
is cremated as soon as possible without formal services.
Direct Transfer Services are provide to families that
choose not to hold local services and wish to have their loved
one transferred to a facility out of the area.
• Cremation Options
Cremation, the practice of reducing the body to its essential
elements by burning, can be traced to the Ancient Greeks who
viewed cremation as the only virtuous and fitting conclusion
to life. Today, as the shortage of cemetery space becomes
more acute, cremation is experiencing a revival. More and
more environmentally conscious people are looking to cremation
as a means of easing the country's growing demand for space.
Counseling and pre-arrangement services are available for
those who are concerned with preserving the earth, so that
they can plan ahead and have their final wishes respected.
Our staff is concerned with assisting families with service
that is both compassionate and dignified.
