Shawnee Rosalee Ocon Gonzales, 75, a resident of Ft. Worth, died Thursday, March 4, 2010 in a local hospital.
Shawnee was born March 8, 1934, the youngest of five children born to the late Philmore Lodridge and the late Ruby Smith in Marthaville, Louisiana. She was raised and attended school in nearby Robenliene until moving to Dallas where she would begin her family. Her time in Louisiana would create a certain love for southern activities, especially fishing that she would enjoy as a young woman.
Shawnee was a homemaker and loving mother to her seven children. She loved cooking, and at Christmas was known for her homemade gifts. She was always friendly to everyone and will be remembered for her charm. Shawnee was an accomplished artist, her median was oil on canvas.
She is survived by her husband, Benito "Benny" Gonzales; children, Kathy Ocon, Steve Ocon and his wife Kimberly, Gaylord Ocon, Brenda Wright and Patti Anne Ocon, Thomas Ocon and his wife Adelita; 11 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; brother, Frank Thomasee and his wife Lavern; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son, David Boyd Ocon and siblings, Carson "Snazir" Lodridge, Mae Howard and Noble "Boo" Lodridge.
Visitation: 11 until 1:30 Saturday with a graveside service following at 2 p.m. at Southland Memorial Park in Grand Prairie.
