Ruben Porras, 60, a resident of Grand Prairie, died at his home on December 6, 2009 following a brief illness.

Ruben was born on February 2, 1949 in Tampico, Mexico, the son of Leocundo Porras and Guadalupe Perez. He would move to Dallas where he would become a talented cook, working for various large hotels including The Omni, Double Tree and Holiday Inn.

Ruben was a faithful Christian. He enjoyed reading his bible and attending church. He was a helpful man and a good husband. He was always willing to help and provide for his family.

He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Yolanda Pineda Porras; step-children, Melvin Medina, Dania Medina and Jose Orellana; brothers, Jesus and Francisco Porras; and a sister, Rosa Porras.

Visitation: 12 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2009. Funeral: 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2009 at Guerrero-Dean Funeral Home. A private burial will occur at a later date.
